Mr 6:17-18 For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her. For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."
And now, Admonition, brought to you by the Collierville Church of Christ.
We read in Mark 6:17-18, For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her. For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
John told Herod, this is against the law. This isn't lawful. You can't have Herodias. Now, how dare John say that? How dare John come and try to break up Herod's happy home? There are people today who will claim that we should ignore God's laws on marriage because of people's happiness. John the Baptist wouldn't have been one of them.
